Orders To The Sentry Applications In Real Life

On March 21st, 2003, Maj. Jay T. Aubin, 36, a prior enlisted Marine aviator was killed in a helicopter crash in Kuwait during combat preparations for Operation Iraqi Freedom. He and his crew were transporting and training with eight British Royal Marine Commandos at the time of the crash. He was survived by his wife and two children, a son and a daughter. In 1993, I met him when he was an Officer Candidate at USMC Officer Candidate School at Quantico, Va as he was going through the PLC Combined program. Put in a peer leadership position as the Candidate Platoon Commander, he stepped up when he saw something wrong (To report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce) and displayed great moral courage in reporting it and looking out for his fellow candidates.

YOUR ASSIGNMENT IN CLASS: 29 November 2012
Your task today is to (A) organize into two teams, one team covering the first five (1 thru 5) general orders, and the second group covering the next six (6 thru 11) general orders. (B) Each team will develop real life civilian examples of how the spirit of those orders to the sentry apply to everyday life situations ans scenarios. (C) Each team will present those real life examples in a small group presentation on Monday December 3 during class. (D) A designated individual from each team will post your teams work (your examples) on this blog (over the weekend) in the Comment Section listing your name, members of your team, and what class period you are in. (E) You will be conducting a group self assessment after the assignment on Dec 4 (Tuesday) in class.

    7. Gonzales is gonna be at post. Elguera,L. is gonna try to talk to him but he will not answer. His fellow military mate ( Ramos ) is gonna then tell him orders and he is going to reply to it.

    8. Leone is gonna be the fire alarm.

    9. St. Juste is gonna be at the computer. Lenard is gonna call him and give him orders. St. Juste realizes that he forgets to tell him everything so he calls Lenard back to adress the matter.

    10. St. Juste, Elguera,L., and Monroe are going to be doing sentry duty. Lenard and Ramos are going to walk past them and they are going to solute because they are higher rank and position in the cain of command.

    11. The room is gonna be dark. Everyone except ramos lenard and lucas are gonna stand post. Lucas is gonna try to enter the room but is denied because he doesn't have the proper authority. 1. Team Ramos: I liked your concept of acting out your examples of real world examples, it was outstanding. IT was entertaining and educational, however it would have been even more effective if you rehearsed it more. I also realize one of your team mates was gone, but the group still has to persevere. Great concept, I actually think we need to video a well rehearsed example of the General Orders to the Sentry. It would improve cadet learning, especially the first year cadets.

    9. In ROTC COL or cheif put a senior cadet in charge of the room when they leave, he. Or she is responsible for everything that goes on in the room, yet if there is ever something they cant handle, then they must immediatly call for COL or cheif and tell them so they can handle it.
    10. Give respect to your Boss, teachers, COL, cheif and all people in higher authority positions then you.
    11. Your security guard, your job is to watch over a museum, you can't let anyone get by you when you are in charge and responsible of.

  3. Team 2: orders to sentry (6-11)
    Period 7)
Team leader(Cruz Brandon)Folston, Singh, Fequiere, Labaze, Ceja

    6) If you were baby sitting an actual baby and friend of yours said he would watch it so you can go to a party. if you say yes, you must tell your "friend" all instructions, the baby's parents or your parents told you to follow, the parents would in this case would be the commanding officers.
    7) It's just like if your working and can't be on facebook chatting with your friends becuase work is work. when your working, here are things you can can do and can't. there's a time and place for everything. if your working, you can't be making personal phone calls when your doing your work.
    8) This means that when a fire or fight breaks out there's always going to be someone there to sound the alarm, like of an example of inmates fighting in jail.
    9) You must contact the leadr in charge of the postin case there is a mis-understanding.
    10) Respect/salute flags and countries, as well as officers those in display and thos not in display.
    11) If you are home alone and your mom tells you to not open the door for anybody but her. Allow no one to pass unless your mom says it's ok. The morale is if someone is not allowed to pass or they don't have a reason to be there. Do not let them pass.
